Invitation to the annual meeting

May 20th – 23rd 2010 in Erkner near Berlin

It gives me great pleasure to invite you to the 61st annual meeting of the DEG in Erkner near Berlin. In doing this the Exlibris community is returning to its (Berlin) roots.

Despite intensive efforts it wasn’t possible to find an acceptable and affordable location for the annual meeting within Berlin, but I was successful in Erkner- located directly at the city limits of Berlin.

Therefore Berlin and its surroundings offer you and your company a versatile spectrum of activities.

From 1885 to 1889 the later Nobel Prize for Literature winner Gerhart Hauptmann lived on the venue and the local Gerhart-Hauptmann museum (www.gerhart-hauptmann.org/) is well worth seeing.

In Friedrichshagen, which is located nearby, you can retrace the steps of him and his well-known group of poets.

The small town Erkner, embedded in a beautiful landscape with forests and lakes is located directly at the Dämritz lake and provides many options for relaxation.

Nevertheless Erkner is conveniently accessible by public transportation as well as by car. It’s located only 2 km from the BAB 10 (Berliner Ring), the regional express (Regional-Express) RE 1 stops in Erkner and the interurban train (S-Bahn) S3 ends in Erkner. The S3 takes 32 minutes from Berlin’s east train station (Ostbahnhof) to Erkner.

At the sun terrace and in the beautiful garden of the conference hotel Erkner (www.bz-erkner.com) you can recover from exchanging Exlibris. The hotel provides 160 free parking lots, a swimming pool, sauna, table tennis, a pool table and a tennis court.

See you soon in Erkner/Berlin.

Yours,

Utz Benkel
